I am not a huge fan of the home run derby, but I believe that the 2008 home run derby was a huge disappointment overall...Yeah I know what you are thinking Josh Hamilton broke a record hitting 28 home runs in the first round and it was at Yankee Stadium. I'll give it to you that was something special, but he didn't even end up winning the thing.
The player lineup was the worst I have ever seen there were no big time power hitters. I mean where were the Bonds, Griffeys, Puljols...I know A-Rod turned them down and it was a disappointment but they need to get some more big hitters to make this thing interesting. To host it with a bunch of "average" home run hitters is not the way to go. Berkman and Hamilton is a good start but they only comprised of 25% of the field. MLB please step up your game and make this a more memorable experience next year.
Lets hope the final Yankee All-star game turns out alot better
